2nd Annual Run the Flood

Saturday, June 12, 2010, 9AM

Volunteer

Run the Flood would not be successful without the support of our amazing volunteers.  From crossing guards to sign painting to food prep, there are a variety of ways to get involved.

This year, we’re asking our volunteers to register online, just like our runners.  To sign up for one of the volunteer opportunities listed below, please click on the Volunteer Registration button to the right.  Just like race participants, you’ll be taken to the GetMeRegistered.com sign-up page.  Please make sure to include your shirt size, as all volunteers will receive a free Run the Flood Volunteer t-shirt to wear on race day.

Want to volunteer as part of a group?  Just enter the name of your organization or family at the bottom of the form, and we’ll make sure to station you all together.  We still need each person to register individually, so that we have all the correct t-shirt sizes.

Packet Pick-Up (Friday and Saturday)
All race participants will receive a packet that includes race information, sponsor information and goodies to take home.  During packet pick-up, race participants will also receive their t-shirts.  Volunteers in this area will help distribute materials to race participants.  Three shifts are available – 10:30am to 1pm or 3:30pm to 7pm on Friday, June 11 at the Helen G. Nassif YMCA and 6:30am to 8:45am on Saturday, June 12 in Green Square Park.

Registration (Friday and Saturday)
Some participants choose to register on Friday or Saturday morning.  Volunteers will be on site to help people get registered.   Three shifts are available – 10:30am to 1pm or 3:30pm to 7pm on Friday, June 11 at the Helen G. Nassif YMCA and 6:30am to 8:30am on Saturday, June 12 in Green Square Park.

Aid Station (Saturday)
While we hope for no injuries during the event, there will be an aid station in case someone needs a band-aid or other first aid items.  Volunteers in the aid tent will NOT be responsible for administering any aid.  The volunteer tent will be open from 9am to 12pm on race day.  Volunteers will need to check in by 8:30am Saturday morning

Start/Finish Line (Saturday)
Help prepare the start line, or be the cheering crew at the finish line.  We need volunteers to be available at the start and finish line for a variety of needs throughout the event.  Start line shift is from 7:30am to 9am; finish line is from 8:30am to 12pm.

Crossing Guard (Saturday)
It is certainly not the most glamorous job, but it is the most important in ensuring safety for race participants.  We need 100 + volunteers to act as crossing guards at intersections along the route.  Depending on the type of intersection, volunteers may be stationed alone, with another volunteer or with a police officer.   Crossing guards will need to check-in on race day by 8:30am and report to their intersections no later than 8:45am.  Once all participants are through your intersection, you will be dismissed and welcome to join everyone at the Recovery Party.

Timing Table (Saturday)
As participants cross the finish line, they often want to know their finishing time.  Help at the timing table and you will help prepare finishers “receipts” and the finish times that will be on display at the park.  Volunteers will need to check-in no later than 7:30am on race day.

Recharge Food Tent (Saturday)
After a 7 or 2.5 mile run or walk, participants will need some water or food to recharge.  Help in the food tent by preparing the food and drinks for race finishers.  Volunteers will need to check-in no later than 8am on race day.
