Race Day

What to Expect

Race organizers are expecting aproximately 1,300 race participants, spectators, and volunteers on race day.  Many participants will arrive starting at 7:30 to stretch and warm up.  There is plenty of space to do this in the GreatAmerica building parking lot.  At 8:45, participants will begin to line up for the race start.  Race organizers ask to line up in the following way:
- Runners near the start line (regardless of 7 mile or 5k race)
- Joggers behind the runners (regardless of 7 mile or 5k race)
- Walkers behind the joggers (regardless of 7 mile or 5k race)

Race announcements and national anthem will start 5 minutes before the start of the race.  Remember race begins at 9AM.

Race Day Registration

Race day registration is available at the GreatAmerica building parking lot between 7:30AM – 8:30AM.  Race day registration fee is $35; t-shirts are not guarunteed for day-of registrants.  Cash, check and credit card payment options are available.

Race Day Restrooms

Port-o-potties will be available in the GreatAmerica building parking lot.  Entrance to the GreatAmerica building will NOT be available under any circumstances. 

Race Day Weather

Race organizers have learned that the weather on the second weekend of June is hard to predict.  From floods in 2008, to rainny weather in 2009 and 2010, the 2011 year finally caught a break.  While storms passed through Cedar Rapids during the night, the race was rain free from 9-11.  Please note – if there is lightening present, the race will be delayed or cancelled.  Please check the website and facebook page regarding delay or cancellation updates.
