FOOD VENDORS
In addition to the amenities for race participants, great food vendors will be at Greensquare Park to sell local favorites for all the Recovery Party attendees. Learn more about our great vendors below!
Dublin City Pub was opened in May 2004 by Matt Blake at the site of the former Capri Cosmetology College at 315 2nd Avenue in Downtown Cedar Rapids. Dublin City quickly became a hot spot in the emerging downtown scene. Buoyed by early success, Matt embarked on a second venture, Grafton Street Pub, in the building which formerly housed O’ Maggie’s Pub at 416 3rd Street. This much anticipated eatery was equally well received, but both doors were soon darkened by the catastrophic flood of June 2008. Both establishments were total losses. Matt regrouped and after 13 months reopened both establishments at the current location of 415 1st street. The current building has enjoyed a rich history in Cedar Rapids as a restaurant over the past 30 years, operating under several names, including Mimm’s, Charlie’s on the River, Mahoney’s River walk, and Muddy Waters.
The Prairie Soup Company is a locally-owned restaurant serving a choice variety of gourmet soups, sandwiches, tossed salads, and wraps. All soups are made using natural ingredients, beginning with our made-from-scratch PSC stock, and served with fresh baked bread. We are located on the skywalk level of the former APAC building in downtown Cedar Rapids. We are open until 4:00, and serve quality coffee, espresso drinks and fresh pastries beginning at 6:30.

Maki & Kalimbaman Duet
Maki and Kalimbaman started their strolling minstrel duet in 1995, performing their unique blend of calypso, mardi gras, and original music. They have played strolling and stage shows at art fairs, music festivals, and family events throughout the Midwest. As strolling minstrels, they interact a lot with the audience, particularly the very youngest and the very oldest folks. People enjoy seeing and hearing them play Andean panflutes, charango, guitar, and Jamaican rumba-box (bass kalimba). Their strolling shows include segments of Scotty’s solo “Kalimbaman” show, as well as Maki’s solo show, “Music of the Andes Mountains”. Maki Dervo and Kalimbaman Scotty Hayward also perform stage shows with their dance band, The Party Guise, which includes drums and Australian didgeredo!
The Messy Blend formed in 2010 from the remnants of the psychedelic jam band Nifty Mountain Pow Wow. After adding long time friend Bob Braswell on Bass, they began to develop a new sound that blended their love for high energy psychedelic music with vocal harmonies and classic pop songwriting. This combination creates rich, colorful atmospheres within a vibrant rock and roll framework. Their captivating live show captures the energy and intensity of classic rock and roll acts like The Who and Led Zeppelin but also incorporates the intricate sense of melody and rhythm of contemporary groups like Radiohead and MGMT. From four unique musicians with four very different approaches to music, they have created a high energy rock and roll band that draws from music of every era and style to create a gem of originality that could only be described one way: the Messy Blend.
Set list: Nothing to say; You do it to yourself; Sick satisfaction; Way past gone; In the basement
About The Jesters:
The Jesterz have been together for a few years now. Like many new bands they’ve had their share of growing pains and lineup changes . For example, there have been 2 bass players, 2 lead singers, 1 lead guitar change to rhythm and a rhythm guitar change to singer! But we finally found the right combination for the music we wanted to play.
About the band members:
Kyle Jordan (15 years old, Linn-Mar High School) plays rhythm guitar, harmonica and sings lead vocals.
Jeremy Jordan (11 year old, Excelsior Middle School) plays drums and is Kyle’s younger brother.
Zach McDonald (15 year old , Linn-Mar High School) plays the bass and backup vocals.
Jake McDonald (17 years old, Linn-Mar High School) plays lead guitar and is Zach’s older brother.
So after a lot of rehearsals, a few tune up parties and a couple of shows booked, they are ready to take on the challenges the summer bring us. Come see them live at Run the Flood and other venues this summer and visit the webpage www.myspace.com/the_jesterz.
